Ken Loach talks about finding his element, his influences and his ethical and emotional drivers. "I was angry."

Creativity rule #1
Understand the creative symbiosis

Creativity rule #2

Be emotional about it.

There is a symbiotic relationship between knowledge, skills and creativity.  "Worthwhile" is not adequate as it is both remarkable and exhilarating - a "human-nuclear fusion' relentless, compelling us to think and to act in a new direction... to demonstrate wonder to the world... or to myself.

That will do!                                                                                  P. Tierney 2024

Creativity rule #3

Recognise excellence and  "that'll do" in equal measure

It makes sense for skills development to be an important part of the experience at CrE8ive Place. Here you can work them through online (e.g. through paid for online tutorials such as Masterclass or through favourite YouTube tutors  and so on. We can source local personal tuition for you and collaborative teaching can take place with others working on those skills too. The skills development, in turn, leads to creative ideas. There will be a various places available to practice and hone those skills.

The skills development is essential and it is about total focus, sacrifice and dedication to produce work of quality, if not creativity.

Pollock? - look again - challenge the conventional

Creativity rule #4

Sometimes you will only know what you were looking for when you have got there.

The development of knowledge and understanding over time is also of equal importance. To learn from watching others and listening and reading with intent. The is fast online access and an extensive library available at CrE8ive Place. Tutors will visit.

Csikszentmihalyi popularized the concept of a flow state. It is when a person may not notice time passing, thinking about why they are doing something, or judging. They remain completely focused. If you are working in your element then the flow state is a natural part of that.

Creativity rule #5

Work it until your fingers bleed and the basket is full.  Sleep, wake, see it for the first time. Mark it fab or bin it again.

Creativity rule #6

Respect the past, and embrace the new.

Creativity rule #7

If you're not in your element its bit of a waste of time. Be you and love what you do.

Creativity rule #8

Give it your full attention to be in your element.

In the everyday, in your authentic and happy self.

Creativity rule #9

Make it my habit make it my flow -

this is what I do!

"Become who we are!" #9

If we are to be our authentic selves we need to be in our element. Everyone can find a way of living that defines who I really am. If your education has not done it for you then it is designed badly. It's the system that can detach you from your natural talents.

"The dogmas of the past are inadequate to the stormy present. We must think and act new and rid ourselves of our educational assumptions of the past."

"Don't just like the idea of it -  love it - naturally turn to it - practice is a challenge but not a chore. It is a compulsive pursuit that makes you content to do it."

"College is designed for a small group of people. We are born with immense gifts of diversity. Human life is organic - there are dormant seeds of possibility... if the conditions are right light will come!"

"Our dreams are what makes us human - tread softly."

"Being creative is a very practical process - anything can be if we want it to be - it's a way of doing anything!"
